Do I need to change my Driver's License to the province of Alberta?


If you are permanently moving to Alberta, you must switch your driver’s license over to the province of Alberta within 90 days. You will need to present government identification as well as proof or residency to obtain. Talent and Culture can provide you with a confirmation of employment letter. The closest registry is the Banff Registry. Banff Registry 103-221 Bear Street Banff, Alberta T1L1A6 Canadians working temporarily in Alberta can drive using your provincial driver’s licence if you continue to live in your home province for more than 6 months each year. Do I need a Banff National Park pass? Is there free parking?


A pass is required to enter Banff National Park. When speaking with an agent at the Park Gates advise that you are starting employment at Fairmont Banff Springs and as a new resident of Banff you will not have to pay the fee. Within you first few days in the park you will need to visit the Banff Visitor Information Centre to pick up a pass. Your registration and proof of residence (our main Talent & Culture Office can provide a letter) is required for a pass to be issued. Banff Visitor Information Centre 224 Banff Avenue Banff, Alberta T1L1H5 Outdoor parking is available for staff at no charge. Parking passes are available in the Main Talent & Culture Office one per colleague. A $25.00 deposit, proof of vehicle registration and insurance are required.




Can I bring a pet to Staff Housing?


Pets of any kind are not permitted in staff accommodation. This includes fish, birds, reptiles, etc. For those of you who need a quick pet fix, you are more than welcomed to visit Bear, the Hotel’s very own Canine Ambassador!




Where do I get my Social Insurance Number (SIN)?


You must be assigned a Social Insurance Number (SIN) before you can begin your first day of orientation. This number can be obtained by visiting a Service Canada Office in Canada. What is HireRight? What are acceptable forms of ID for HireRight?


To ensure the protection of our colleagues, guests and property, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts will conduct background checks from a third party company called HireRight in accordance with all requirements of applicable local, provincial and federal legislation. All prospective hires undergo pre-employment background checks as a condition of employment. Please note our offer is conditional upon the successful completion of a background check with satisfactory results. You should have received an email from Hireright asking you to login to complete the required background screening. You will be required to enter your personal details online as requested (including your address history for the last 5 years). Please print off the consent forms, complete, then upload to the Hireright website along with 2 pieces of ID. Please see the list of Acceptable ID.




What is the Employee Travel Discount Program?


Bienvenue and NCA Employee Discount Travel program is available to all regular full-time and part-time employees within the NCA region. Provides Employees with a discount to stay and experience luxury and Mid-Scale hotels, resorts, or property owned, operated or managed by AccorHotels while on leisure travel outside their city or location. Where do I check into Staff Housing? What if I am checking in after hours?


If you are moving into Staff Housing, please go to the Cascade building (401C) just across the street from the hotel upon arrival. There is a sign that says ‘Staff Housing Office.’ The Staff Housing Office is located on the bottom floor.
The earliest day for check in will be confirmed in the offer email. To ensure a smooth arrival experience we strongly encourage arrivals before 4:30pm. If you are checking in after staff housing hours, go into the hotel and advise a front desk reception agent that you are a new staff member and ask them to contact Security to have them bring you to your room. Please let Staff Housing know ahead of time if you know you are going to arrive after 5:30pm.

Do I have Health Care coverage if I am a temporary worker?


Temporary workers from outside Alberta – Canadians or permanent residents If you come to Alberta to work, but maintain your home in another province or territory and return home regularly, you should maintain your health insurance coverage in your home province or territory. Temporary workers from outside Canada – Work permit If you come to Alberta on a work permit you must intend to stay in Alberta for 12 months. To qualify for AHCIP, the minimum acceptable work permit length is 6 months. Learn how to apply for health coverage and the documents you need.

Until you are eligible for AHCIP coverage, you will have to pay for all health care services you get.

Is there local transportation in Banff?


Downtown Banff is a 10-15 minute walk from Fairmont Banff Springs but we also have the local Roam Transit busses. Roam Transit bus routes are outlined here.

You will see “Banff Springs Hotel” at the end of Tunnel Mountain (Blue 2) route. Bus fare is $2.00 and you have the option to download the “Token Transit” app on your phone.

What type of insurance do I need for International Experience Canada?


For International Experience Canada, you must have health insurance for the entire time you are in Canada. The health insurance must cover medical care, hospitalization and repatriation. We recommend you buy this insurance only after you receive your port of entry (POE) letter. We can’t recommend specific insurance companies or plans, but you can search online for something that meets your needs. You may be refused entry into Canada if you don’t have insurance. If your insurance policy is valid for less time than your expected stay in Canada, you may be issued a work permit that expires at the same time as your insurance. Is there a gym?


Yes! Employees have the option to purchase a fitness centre membership for the Fairmont Banff Springs fitness centre. Fitness Centre membership – includes pool, change rooms and fitness classes Annual $525 +GST​ 6-month $325 +GST 3-month $175 +GST Employee drop in rate $10 +GST




Do I need a Driver's Abstract/Driver's Record for my position?


The following positions require a driver's abstract/driver's record: Turf Care positions Guest Services Department positions Hotel Grounds Department positions Engineering Department positions ALL Golf Course positions including On Course Server and Retail Associate * Please Note: For the above positions, it is a condition of your employment to obtain an up-to-date Driver's Abstract/Driver's Record. You will not be permitted to start work until this has been provided. Should you have any questions in relation to obtaining this, please contact either your manager or the Talent Acquisition team prior to your start date. A 3 year or 5 year uncertified Driver's Abstract/Driver's Record is accepted.




How do I get the Brewster Bus employee discount?


To obtain the discount, new employees are required to show the Brewster desk at the airport their employment offer email/letter. It is recommended that you book your bus ticket in advance. When booking, explain that you are a new employee and that you will show proof of your employment upon arrival to the Brewster desk.
